Certification Overview:
A Domain Academy Certified Investor is a professional who understands all of the principles of domain name investing.
This body of knowledge includes the methodology, tools and language associated with domain name investing and management, and includes a general understanding of regulatory issues, tax implications, and legal issues.

Course Content:
- Basics of DNS, ICANN, WHOIS, domain transfer, brand value, and the supply/demand concept
- The six types of second-level domains and associated value ranges
- The 35+ characteristics and metrics that define a second-level domain and increase/decrease value
- Wholesale versus retail, valuation ranges, appropriate comparable sales, and automated appraisals
- How to successfully complete valuations of the six types of domain names
- Buying domain names: budgeting, asset allocation, lifecycle buying, marketplace buying, hand-registering, portfolio analysis, and payment options.
- Selling domain names: realistic pricing, where to sell, passive selling, active selling, and negotiation.
- Investing as a business: strategies, P&L and cash flow, portfolio management, portfolio hygiene, taxes, and UDRP.

Certification Requirements:
A rigorous set of open-book knowledge assessments are included in each of the Course Content areas listed above.
To be awarded the Domain Academy Certified Investor designation, you must:
- Complete 100% of the course material
- Pass the course knowledge assessments with a minimum of 70% proficiency
- Pass the domain name valuation assessments with a minimum of 70% proficiency
You may retake knowledge and valuation assessments as many times as you wish; the highest score will be used for proficiency calculations.
Once you have passed the certification requirements, you are awarded the Domain Academy Certified Investor credential. Your credential is displayed on your GoDaddy profile page, which can be listed on your Linkedin or CV/resume as proof of knowledge and skills.
